How Do I Know When It's Time For a Tune-Up?

At Evergreen we understand that a car is a big investment, and we'd like to help you protect that investment. That's why we recommend regular service to keep your car running great and help it last a good, long time.

Check your owner's manual for your Chevrolet-recommended maintenance schedule. Commonly, you'll want to have your car in for a check-up every two years or 30,000 miles.

However, if you're experiencing any of these symptoms, you may want to bring your car to us sooner so we can identify and fix the problem.

  • My car has trouble starting.
  • It periodically stalls for no apparent reason.
  • It runs rough.
  • It sounds funny (or different) when I'm stopped at a red light.
  • I've noticed that my gas mileage has gone down.
  • My check-engine light just came on.

You know you can trust our Chevy service experts east of Bellevue to diagnose and fix your car problems quickly and efficiently.

What Goes Into a Tune-Up?

Whether we do a general tune-up or take care of your scheduled 30, 60, or 90,000 mile maintenance, we'll do an overall inspection of every system in your car.

Here are some of the common things we do when we tune up a car:

  • We'll change your oil and oil filter.
  • We'll check other fluids (radiator fluid, transmission fluid, power steering fluid, brake fluid) and top off or replace, as needed.
  • We'll check and adjust your belt pressure (alternator, power steering, cooling fan, air conditioning, and more).
  • We'll check your spark plugs and make sure they're working right.
  • We'll check your fuel pump and filter, and replace your air filter.
  • We'll inspect your fuel injectors, ignition and emissions systems to make sure everything's working well and you're getting the most out of your car.
  • We'll check your hoses and gaskets to look for wear, cracks or leaks.
  • We'll check your timing belt for signs of wear (this can be one of the most expensive repairs if it breaks while you're driving).

If we find anything wrong, we'll contact you with the estimated cost and get your approval before starting any repairs. Remember, though: money well spent now will save you money in the long run.
